I go through fazes of reading excessively and lacking motivation and inspiration to pick up a book. Being an English teacher, it's almost a prerequisite that I be somewhat of a "literary type". And while it's true I've read Austen, Bronte', Huxley, Bradbury, Shakespeare, Salinger, Plath and all the other 'acceptable' novels, I mostly just enjoy a good coffee table book.

I love the aesthetics of irregular shaped, hard cover books overflowing with glossy pictures. I'm mesmerised by books about travel that inspire me to seek out far away destinations and I thrive off a good book about healthy food and lifestyle. Here is a list of my go-to books when needing a slice of beauty in my everyday:

Honestly one of the most beautiful things I have read. A memoir of travelling and staying put, filled with glorious water colour paintings and cute anecdotes.

This book inspired me to start a blog. Written by a LA-based blogger, it deals with style, food, design and entertaining in a cute way.

Created by powerhouse brand "Kate Spade" its a visual collection of their top twenty fashion and lifestyle trends. Presented through vivid, glossy photographs, definitely for the art and photography enthusiast.

Peaked my interest into the chemicals in our face and body products and the harm they can cause to us. A girls guide to hair, make-up and style.

I've never been to San Fran but it's definitely on my destinations wish list. A trendy book that gives you the low-down on all the must see destinations when visiting this remarkable city.
